Your journey, day by day
A short yet intense journey, unfolding from the Atlas Mountains to the most breathtaking dunes of the Moroccan Sahara.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora (360 km)
Departure towards Ait Benhaddou via the Tizi N’tichka Pass (2,260 m), crossing the High Atlas Mountains. Visit of the iconic kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has served as the backdrop for numerous international films.
Optional lunch at a restaurant overlooking the kasbah.
The journey then continues towards Zagora, passing through the small village of Agdz. The landscape gradually transforms: from lush greenery and palm groves to the first hints of desert oases. You enter the Draa Valley, a remarkably diverse and evocative region, where kasbahs, multicolored rock formations, terraced fields, date palms, henna plantations, and traditional villages create a constantly changing scenery.
Arrival in Zagora, often referred to as the “gateway to the desert.” In the 14th century, the Saadian dynasty—descendants of the Prophet from Arabia—began their conquest of the Sahara from here, extending their influence as far as Timbuktu.
Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Zagora, a land of oases and ancient caravan routes.
Amid shaded gardens, palm trees, and traditional earthen architecture, an intimate retreat that embraces you with calm and authenticity.

Day 2: Zagora – Chegaga Dunes (140 km) – Desert Camp
Departure by 4x4 to the village of Tamgroute, known since the 11th century for hosting one of the most important Quranic libraries in Africa. Visit the historic library and the traditional pottery workshops.
Continue along approximately 80 km of paved road to reach the village of M’hamid El Ghizlane.
Optional lunch at a local restaurant.
From here, the adventure begins towards Chegaga, where you will discover the vast dunes of Erg Chegaga and the raw landscapes of the Draa hamada. This remote area is still inhabited by nomadic tribes and, with a bit of luck, you may encounter a camel caravan crossing the desert—an unforgettable and authentic experience.
Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp, in traditional Berber tents.
